As you can see in the background of this picture taken in 2006, we've had a difficult time with the lawn on the NW corner since we moved in 6 years ago. The past few years we talked about starting a garden. I was supportive of making improvements but, my only hesitation... I'd be the one doing all the work. This year Eric finished school and I gave in.
We began by putting the kids to work. They worked harder than I've ever seen for 5 minutes then Eric and I picked up the shovels and got started. (REFERENCE: SEE LILAC BUSH IN CORNER NEXT TO FENCE)
Something like 3, maybe 4, months later we finished our garden project on the 5th of July. Some of the delay was to bad weather but really we are taking more time with our kids trying to enjoy their childhoods with them as often as we can. (REFERENCE: SEE LILAC BUSH IN CORNER NEXT TO FENCE)
AHHH!!!Now to finish that broken window, some grass seed, then...

When you left a comment I was hoping that meant you updated your blog too! Wish came true. I love the garden. What are your plans in the basement?
I'm thinking some built in cabinets below, a few book shelves on top to the right and a place for the TV on the left. Maybe in a year I can get some new furniture for the family room. I'd like a couple of sitting chairs by the fireplace w/ottoman and big lounging couch for the TV and a circular craft table with benches and storage by the bedroom. We'll see.
