Scott had his bone graft surgery on Monday. We knew this day was coming for sometime and are happy to be through it and on to recovery. Scott was very swollen and bruised the first few days but now he is getting back to his old self.
The surgeon had to break the bone right beneath his nose and reset it. They had to cut open his bone on the edge of his hip and scoop out bone marrow (the surgeion said he had a special "bone scooper") that they used to fill in areas of his cleft. The hip will heal itself, our bodies are so amazing. Scott has a "cast" over his top teeth that he will have to wear until he is done healing. He watched a lot of TV and ate tons of icecream. He did really well and even got to go home the next day! In about six weeks Scott should be better than new.
Laura and Grace had eye appointments at the same hospital the day after Scott's surgery. Here they are getting ready to drive home. We will post more pictures soon so you can see Scott progress.
